EnglichEnglich: "Watch our replay video. I did everything like the boy.
One thing I can't really do is look so graceful and glamourous. Bug*er!"

Russia would have won 1-0.
That's as clear as day!"

The Netherlands ended a 30-year wait for a victory over Italy in emphatic fashion as they began their Group C campaign with a rousing 3-0 win against the world champions in Berne.

NigbaNigba: "Hollan imitated all van der Sar’s movements but appeared to be off screen as the main action took place on the Italian half."

"Netherlands will win the cup"

EnglichEnglich: "If we had played this match against Italy we would have scored these three goals. You can see it in our replay videos."

An emotional Lukas Podolski struck in either half to give Germany an ideal start to their Group B campaign with victory against debutants Poland in Klagenfurt.

HollanvdH: "What can I say? We were sat in front of the telly to watch this match. I was really scared!
Germany attacked so persistently I wouldn’t like to be the goalie facing them!"

Austria went the same way as co-hosts Switzerland, opening their tornament challenge with a narrow defeat as Luka Modri's early penalty gave Croatia victory in Vienna.

EnglichEnglich: "If England had played Croatia they would have…
Well, England played Croatia not long ago…"

Losers on the opening day four years ago, Portugal made a sure-footed start to EURO as second-half strikes from Pepe and substitute Raul Meireles secured all three points against Turkey at the Stade de Genève.

EnglichEnglich: "If Portugal hadn't scored two goals the match would have been drawn 0-0.
And if England had played Turkey the score would have definitely been different."

On the opening day of the European Cup 2008 Czech Republic beat one of the co-hosts Switzerland 1-0.

NigbaNigba: "I was really confused. All Czech players were called by proper names and only the goalkeeper didn’t have a name. Commentators called him just Cech. Is he the only Czech in the Czech team?
Czechs will win the cup!"

Nigba: Cyprus defender got confused and let the forward get through. I had to repeat this dozens of times before I got it right. Then I handed it over to Hollan.

vdH: The Rivals player who did Ninis replayed the shot perfectly well. I didn't want to disgrace myself and missed the ball just like the Cyprus goalie.

Footballeros replay Spain vs ItalyNigba fine-tunes Cannavaro’s header and Hollan perfects Buffon’s miss and land rolling in Spain v Italy replica.

vdH: It was hard not to catch the ball but I tried to repeat everything – the jump, the landing and the rolling. Even the mimic of self-disappointment was like Buffon’s.

Nigba: I headed the ball to the Rivals guy who did David Villa in opposition. I think it was precise. Hope I can do that again in our league matches.
